From 7-9 PM at Morphy Recital Hall on the 30th, Daron will give a masterclass for singers and pianists on repertoire including, but not limited to, songs by Jake Heggie, John Musto, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Handel, Amy Beach, Douglas Moore, and Puccini. It is assumed that he will also coach some of his own 350+ art songs and / or arias from his nine operas.

On the 31st at 4:00 PM, he will give a masterclass to composers during which he will discuss his new "post-genre" opera "Orson Rehearsed," the new "post-genre" opera he is developing as auteur opera composer / director (part of a five-opera development agreement) at the Chicago College of Performing Arts with the collaboration of the Opera Conservatory, Theater Conservatory, Music Conservatory, Fifth House Ensemble, and his New Mercury Collective. (More about "Orson Rehearsed" here.)

During a breakout session afterwards will, hee will also take questions on professional issues and discuss career strategies. 

On the morning of the 1st he will hear (by appointment) professional singers in the Madison area for casting in 2018-2019 season projects, including revivals of his operas "Shining Brow" and "Amelia," and a touring production of "Orson Rehearsed." 

Madison Opera's 1993 world premiere production of his Shining Brow launched Hagen's career internationally as an opera composer.

Hagen describes directing the opera at Kentucky Opera.
