13 & 20-string Koto player / Composer / Improviser / Computer Sound Artist Yumi Kurosawa

Premiered by 13 & 20-string Koto player / Composer / Improviser / Computer Sound Artist Yumi Kurosawa at Sumida Toriphony Hall, Tokyo, Japan in July 2012, this solo work is an intimate monologue for solo koto in which listeners are asked to imagine themselves as infants, laying in their cribs, looking up at mobiles of their own imagination's creation, listening as, just out of sight, their mothers sing secret songs to them.

Ms. Kurosawa has been a champion of Daron Hagen's music for koto, and has performed his Concerto for Koto, commissioned by Kyo-Shin-An Arts, in New York, the United Kingdom, and Hawaii. Her recording of the work with the Orchestra of the Swan continues to sell steadily, and the excellent video of her premiere performance has exceeded 84,000 hits on YouTube.
